Lewis to Hold News Conference Tuesday at Jim Beam
Congressman to discuss support of industry, local economy

Clermont, KY - Congressman Ron Lewis (R-KY) will hold a brief news conference tomorrow, Tuesday, September 5th, at 10:00amET, at the Jim Beam Outpost, Happy Hollow Rd, Clermont. Lewis will address his support of the distilled spirits industry in the Second Congressional District, highlighting Jim Beam’s important contributions to the local economy and good corporate citizenship.

“I am proud to support Jim Beam and the thousands of employees and families who owe their livelihoods to local bourbon production. Jim Beam continues to make important contributions to this region, sponsoring capital investment projects, generating sustained economic activity and providing high quality jobs for local residents."

Lewis intends to answer charges from some of his critics that his support of regional distilled spirits production is immoral considering his Baptist faith.

“Though I do not drink alcohol, I recognize the important role that the distilled spirits industry plays in many of the communities of my congressional district. Bourbon is a legal product. Consumption is a choice based on our own individual free will and responsibility.

“As an elected official representing a wide array of regional interests in the U.S. Congress, I must advocate policies that grow local businesses, such as Jim Beam, and the good jobs that they support. When you attack the bourbon industry, you attack thousands of hardworking Kentucky families.”

Joining Lewis at the Tuesday morning event will be Jim Beam Vice President Jeff Conder; Plant Manager Jerry Summers; Mr.Fred Noe, great grandson of Jim Beam; and dozens of local employees.
